Multiscale friction model for hot sheet metal forming

چکیده

Abstract The accurate description of friction is critical in the finite element (FE) simulation sheet metal forming process. Usually, oversimplified through use a constant Coulomb coefficient. In this study, application an existing multiscale model extended to hot stamping accounts for effects tool and surface topography as well evolution contact pressure, temperature, bulk strain during stamping. Normal load flattening strip drawing experiments are performed calibrate model. results show that can relatively predict draw when due wear incorporated. Finally, formulated was demonstrated FE hot-stamped part.

Multiscale Friction Modeling for Sheet Metal Forming

The most often used friction model for sheet metal forming simulations is the relative simple Coulomb friction model. This paper presents a more advanced friction model for large scale forming simulations based on the surface change on the micro-scale. The surface texture of a material changes when two surfaces are in contact under a normal load. This is caused by flattening due to combined nor...

MULTISCALE FRICTION MODELING FOR SHEET METAL FORMING Authors

The most often used friction model for sheet metal forming simulations is the relative simple Coulomb friction model. This paper presents a more advanced friction model for large scale forming simulations based on the surface change on the micro-scale. The surface texture of a material changes if two surfaces are in contact under a normal load which is an effect of flattening due to normal load...

A Software Solution for Advanced Friction Modeling Applied to Sheet Metal Forming

In this paper, a software solution is presented for advanced friction modeling in metal forming processes, using a physically-based friction model. As input, the model requires the properties of the metal-lubricant combination used and the surface characteristics of the tooling and sheet material. As output, the friction coefficient is provided in both the boundary and mixed lubrication regime....

Contactless Sheet Metal Feeder for Metal-forming Machines

This paper deals with the investigation of a contactless sheet metal feeder for metal forming machines. The concept is based on an asynchronous linear motor in which the sheet metal is used as the eddy currents runner. First numerical analyses were performed by means of a parameterized finite-element (FE) model of the feeder. The focus was on the investigation of the operational characteristics...

Prediction of Instability in Planar Anisotropic Sheet Metal Forming Processes

In this paper instability of planar anisotropic sheet metal during a few forming processes is investigated for the first time. For this reason components of the constitutive tangent tensor for planar anisotropic sheets are developed. By using the above tensor location of necking is predicted. Direction of the shear band is also predicted using the acoustic tensor. A finite element program is pr...
